Attention Gov El-Rufa’i!

I write to bring to your notice the recent NLC dispute that happened as a result of the mass sacking of about 21,780 failed teachers who Kaduna state government replaced with 25,000. The NLC had embarked on five days warning strike which tormented your state citizens in devastating encounters.

However, on Wednesday, May 19, 2021, you had in a video clip publicly declared that you would not change your position and there are no grounds for compromise and declared the NLC President, Comrade Ayuba P. Wabba, wanted.

With all due respect sir, you were elected Kaduna state governor by the people of Kaduna to serve their interests in a way that would not harm or jeopardize their welfare. As such, you have to take people’s suggestion of dialoguing with the NLC to bring an end to the face off. Meanwhile, as a result of the warning strike the people of Kaduna state lamented the shortage of water, lack of electricity, lack of vehicles to move from one place to another, and the shortage of one of the significant human necessities food as everywhere was shut down.

Nevertheless, organizing dialogue meetings can likely be the best option in resolving this scenario, as William Isaacs once said “Dialogue is a vehicle for creative problem identification and solving.” Furthermore, it is different from what is normally conceived as problem-solving. The usual modality to tackle problems is discussion. In the best-case scenario, the compromise is acceptable to all, but in most situations, one or more individuals would feel that they lost.

Dialogue allows for the identification and solution to a problem by “thinking together.” This notion was first introduced by David Bohm, the famed physicist, and extensively documented by Isaacs. More so, thinking together is the result of the dialogic process. Dialogue allows for the true exploration of the problem. Thinking together arrives as part of what Isaacs calls the generative dialogue.

Notwithstanding, this is the phase of the dialogic process when the participants together reach new insights, co-create, and ultimately solve the problem with a much greater depth than the defensive form of conversation.

Sadly, both Mallam and the NLC are exchanging words, abusively, that would not solve the problem rather the problem would continue deteriorating as well as degenerating to anarchy (God forbid)! Instead of doing so, why shouldn’t they be engaging themselves in a dialogue meeting? If truly they have the masses at heart. The duo should know that conflict against each other for the sake of Kaduna state citizens would not yield something positive.

In a nutshell, I would like to advise El-Rufa’i judging by the aforementioned avowal to adopt them in solving this scenario to save Kadunians from further hardship.
