Why Aregbesola failed Governor, former Osun speaker, Bello reveals

A former speaker of Osun State House of Assembly, Adejare Bello, on Tuesday, said Governor Rauf Aregbesola would have been the best governor if he has listening ears and take advice.

He stated this in Osogbo, the state capital, when he submitted his letter of intention to contest the governorship election to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP’s Secretariat.
While submitting the letter of intention to the Chairman of the party, Hon. Soji Adagunodo, Bello boasted that his experience as two term speaker has placed him above other aspirants in the party.
He promised to win the governorship election if his party, PDP, present him as their candidate, saying “considering my past record under the past two Governors of Chief Bisi Akande and Olagunsoye Oyinlola, and the present governor Rauf Aregbesola, I can say boldly that I have the wherewithal to govern the state.
“I was the minority leader of the assembly for four years and I was the speaker for eight years, I have gathered experience from the three governors that led the state since 1999.
“I know how Bisi Akande failed in his government when he downsized workers. I can not make such mistakes.
He promised that he would allow the leadership of his party to choose his deputy if they give him ticket, assuring that he would obey party structure.
“I promise that I won’t be governor that selects for party. The party would be superior under my watch. I have learned how to respect the party from Oyinlola and I would not interfere in selecting for the party.
“I want to assure you that my swearing-in should be expected once I am given the governorship ticket. I would ensure that all the 30 local governments and the area council in Modakeke have their party Secretariat within my two years.
“I promise that PDP would get 60,000 votes in my town, Ede, if you give me ticket. I promised 25,000 votes during the last Senatorial election and I delivered 27,000 votes.
He also promised to extend the benefit from 25 percent profit margin from all contracts to 20 people in the area that the contract would be awarded to.
