Akeredolu was a principled leader – Obi 

 

Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections, Mr Peter Obi on Tuesday described the late governor of Ondo state, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredola, SAN, as principled leader.

Mr Obi said this during a condolence visit to the residence of the late governor at Jericho area of Ibadan.

The LP presidential candidate stressed that late Governor Akeredolu was a dogged fighter and forthright person who stood on the side of the masses at all times.

Mr Obi, who came in company of Professor Pat Utomi, prayed to God to grant the family, the Ondo state people and the entire country the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss and as well prayed eternal rest for Arakunrin Akeredolu.

In his remark in the condolence register, Mr Obi wrote: “May God Almighty who called you home grant you eternal rest in His kingdom and grant your family and all of us the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss. God Almighty bless your family.”

Prof Pat Utomi while speaking said the late Governor Akeredolu never compromised on justice and equity and was not one who would keep quiet in the face of oppression. 

Stressing that the character traits displayed by late Akeredolu in the governance of Ondo State had been part of him right from secondary school, Prof Utomi described the death of the late governor as a colossal loss to Ondo state and the country.

The immediate younger brother of the late governor,  Prof Wole Akeredolu, thanked Mr Peter Obi and Prof  Utomi for the visit and their support for the family.
