‘A‘Ibom APC plotting to stop Buhari from re-appointing Udoma’

As Nigerians awaits the composition of the Federal Executive Council, by President Muhammadu Buhari, the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Akwa Ibom state is allegedly putting in place political strategies to stop the president from reappointing Senator Udoma Udo Udoma, Blueprint has learnt.

A secretariat staff of the party who preferred to remain anonymous, told our correspondent at the party’s  state secretariat located along Ikot Ekpene road, Uyo, that the party leadership in the state is not favorably disposed to Udoma’s reappointment for political reasons.

The source said, “even though Udo Udoma is a two time senator representing Akwa Ibom South Senatorial District, between 1999 and 2007, he is now a spent force politically.

“Political appointments are forms of empowerment. You don’t waste the empowerment benefits by empowering the wrong people who cannot impact positively in the party. Right now we don’t know if he is in APC or not. He doesn’t know where the state party office is located.”

Another APC faithful who simply identified himself as ward executive, Ikot Abasi local government chapter said, “I am APC and APC is me. Udoma is from this Local government. The party lost in his ward during the last general election. How can you compensate him with another appointment for losing in his ward?

“The president needs to call for nominations from the party hierarchy in the state. That is the only way we can have core party men and women in appointive positions at the federal level and their impact would be felt even at the grassroots. Senator Udoma is not a party man.” He concluded.

The party leaders who lamented the poor mobilization strength of party members in spite of the fact that, the president appointed over 50 party members in his first term.

The party is insisting that only loyal and committed card carrying members of the APC should be considered for federal appointment.

A party chieftain in the state, Mr. Edet Bassey, on Wednesday, appealed to the President to consider appoint only technocrats into his cabinet.

Bassey said the appeal became necessary as this is the only way the president can fast-track the needed development and economic growth of the country.

He averred the appointment of redundant politician and vision less politicians in my ministerial positions may hinder the strict implementation of his campaign promises and the party manifesto.

Bassey, the immediate past Publicity Secretary of the party in the State said the APC has a pool of technocrats who have indicated interest in the Ministerial position.
