Again, Senate, Reps postpone resumption after Easter, Eid-el-fitr 

 

The Senate and the House of Representatives have shifted their resumption date again over planned usage of their main chambers as against temporary ones being used for plenaries since September 2022.

Both Chambers had penultimate week , postponed their resumption date from April 16th , 2024 to April 23, 2024 , citing the need for holding plenaries at the main chambers as reason for the postponement.

The Chairman , House Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Hon Akin Rotimi Jr, in the first postponement of resumption said: “This postponement  is necessary to accommodate the completion of renovations to the main chamber of the House of Representatives to ensure its readiness for plenary sessions, henceforth.”

Giving similar reason in the latest postponement announced on Thursday in Abuja , the Clerk of the Senate , Barrister Chinedu Akubueze, said : ”  Distinguished Senators  are hereby, respectfully informed that resumption of plenary, which was earlier postponed to Tuesday 23rd April 2024, has further been postponed to Tuesday 30th April 2024 at 11 am.

“Kindly note that the plenary sitting will be held at the main Chamber of the Senate. 

“All inconveniences this postponement may cause Distinguished Senators are highly regretted, please”.

The site Engineer of Visible Construction Company handling renovation work on  the two Chambers, Engineer Tajudeen Olanipekun, had early last month ,  informed journalists covering the Senate, that the two main chambers, would be ready for use by both the Senate and the House of Representatives in April 2024.
