After continental exploits, Osimhen, Oshoala in global awards shortlist

Victor Osimhen and Asisat Oshoala have made the final shortlists in the 2023 Globe Soccer Awards.

Organizers of the award announced the final nominees in men and women categories on their X handle on Tuesday, 12 December 2023.

Osimhen, who was crowned 2023 CAF Player of the Year on Monday, will battle the likes of Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Kylian Mbappe, Jude Bellingham and Erling Haaland in the final 11.

Other top football stars who made the final cut include Kevin De Bruyne, Mohamed Salah, Karim Benzema, Vinicius Junior and Bernardo Silva.

In the women’s category, Oshoala is among the 10 finalists shortlisted for the award.

The Super Falcons and Barcelona striker picked up her sixth CAF women’s Player of the Year award.

Other categories that will be contested for are Best Emerging Player, Best Goalkeeper, Best Midfielder, Best Coach, Best Club (men and women), Fans Favourite Player, Best Agent, Best Club President, Best Sporting Director, Best Middle East Player and also Best Middle East Club.

Winners in all the different categories will be announced during the live broadcast of the Globe Soccer Awards gala on 19 January 2024, in Dubai.

The Globe Soccer Awards is organized by Globe Soccer and involves participation from international football organizations such as FIFA, UEFA, ECA, and major clubs in an annual event held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Former France and Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema is the current holder of the award.

Also, Portugal and Madrid legend Cristina Ronaldo has won the award six times, the highest by an individual.
