The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has called off its five-day strike in Imo State.
In a meeting which commenced Sunday and ended Monday between the NLC, the Trade Union Congress (TUC) on one side and the representatives of the Imo state government on the other side, it was resolved that the strike should come to an end.
The NLC and TUC team were made up of Comrade Onyeka Chris representing NLC headquarters; Comrade Tony Ebaho, representing TUC headquarters; Comrade Anukwuorji Nduka Peter, State NLC Secretary ; Comrade Amalu Charles, State Chairman, TUC; Comrade George Ofoegbu and Comrade Sir Uchenna Nwokeji.
While the state government was represented by the deputy governor, Prof Placid Njoku, Secretary to the State Government, Chief Cosmas Iwu and the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Barr. C.O.C. Akolisa.
The strike had slowed down both domestic and commercial activities in the state in the last five days as non-supply of water and power to consumers reached crescendo.
