Super Eagles stand-in captain William Ekong has said he will be back in training later this week after a knee injury sidelined him out of the team’s final AFCON group game against Guinea Bissau.
The PAOK central defender suffered the injury in the Eagles 1-0 win over AFCON hosts Cote d’Ivoire.
“I am not out of the tournament,” Ekong said.
“I am getting better, I am looking to be back in training by Thursday.”
Kenneth Omeruo played in his place and also captained the team against Guinea Bissau.
The Super Eagles will next play a Round of 16 match Saturday in Abidjan.
