African Economic Merit Award (AEMA), a non-governmental organisation (NGO) that is out to promote innovative ideas for entrepreneurial, economic and social development to all Africans, has disclosed that it would be rewarding successful African entrepreneurs, NGOs that have contributed immensely to the development of African communities.
President/Founder of the AEMA, McEva Temofe, stated this at a world press briefing held in Abuja yesterday.
He said: “AEMA is aimed at creating jobs across Africa through our grassroots community development programmes and supporting smaller business by creating awareness and synergy between craftsmanship and business prospects.”

“As an outfit made up of dynamic, self‐motivated youths with the intention to harness Africa’s economy, business and social resources with the aim of boosting economic growth in African communities by uniting the successful business entrepreneurs with the latent talents. Enriching the soil and giving hope to Africans with Agricultural, Educational, Technology and Business initiatives,” he added.
According to him, AEMA has established a presence in 17 countries within the continent of Africa and still counting.

While making some clarifications on the activities of the AEMA, one of the Executive Directors of the AEMA, Senator Iroegbu, underlined the importance of working with the media to refocus their attentions towards developmental journalism so that issues that were regarded as minute or taken for granted to be carefully projected and presented  to the public lame light so that these outstanding individuals would be celebrated and rewarded by the society.
“We have had many Nigerians who produced some wonderful things in one corner, it goes unrecognized. Therefore, it is the role of this NGO, in collaboration with media, to try to bring these people celebrate them for the world to know them,” Ireogbu said.
