Adamawa: I won’t join issues with you, Fintiri tells Abbo

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has vowed against joining issues with Senator Elisha Ishaku Abbo over the conduct of the Peoples Democratic Party’s local government council chairmanship primaries in the state.

The senator, who represents Adamawa North senatorial district same as the governor, had alleged that the governor manipulated the processes adding that the exercise was skewed in favour of the governor’s preferred candidates.

But reacting to the allegation through a statement issued by the Media and Communication director general, Mr Solomon Kumangar, he explained that he can’t join issues with the senator because he was focused on delicate matters.

Fintiri said he was focused on the laying strong bricks for the security, growth, development and prosperity of the people and institutions of Adamawa state and would not want to be distracted.

Further, he described the actions of the Senator as unfortunate, adding that he takes exception to his insults, innuendoes and attacks on his person and office but insisted it would be out of place for him to honour the senator by towing his line of action.

Instead, he advised Senator Abbo and all the other aggrieved loyal party members in the state, who are not happy with the outcome of the just concluded PDP local government chairmanship primaries in the state, to explore available intra party channels to express their grievances in a civilised and democratic manner.

Parts of the statement reads: “The attention of Governor Fintiri has been drawn to a video circulating in the social media in which Senator Ishaku Abbo representing Adamawa North senatorial district attempted to cast aspersion on the governor.

“His Excellency views the senator’s action as unfortunate and takes exception to the insult, innuendoes and attacks on his person and office.”
