The Anambra state governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, on Friday assured corps members serving in the state that they would be exposed and rewarded with entrepreneurial jobs and other opportunities.
Soludo gave the assurance at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Permanent Orientation Camp at Mbaukwu/Umuawulu in Awka South local government area during a swearing ceremony of 1,300 new corps members sent in for 2023 Batch A (Stream I).
The governor, represented by the Commissioner for Special Duties, Barrister Sylvester Ezeokenwa, stressed that the state was hospitable and had different programmes geared towards transforming the citizenry.
“As you know or may have been informed, Anambra is blessed with the spirit of Entrepreneurship and we have programs mapped out to activate that gift in our Developmental Agenda for our teeming youths. I do hope that you will key in and join the leading Entrepreneurs we have nationwide. With the forthcoming 2023 general elections, my advice is that you maintain your neutrality and avoid any act that will bring your image to disrepute.
“In this state, we have a tradition of rewarding hard work at the end of the service in the form of various awards and the selection starts cumulatively from the Orientation Course. Make the best use of your time and opportunities. This camping exercise affords you the forum to establish lasting relationships amongst yourselves,” he said.
Earlier, the NYSC Anambra state coordinator, Mrs. Blessing Ekene Iruma, said out of 1,300 corps members sworn in, 601 were males and 699 females.
She said, “As I welcome you to Anambra state, I urge you to adapt quickly to the regimented structure of this orientation course, learn new things, unlearn a few others, make new friends and utilise the opportunities to contribute your quota to the development of Anambra state, particularly in the education sector.”
