The Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta and Coordinator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, Brig General Paul Boroh (retd) has disclosed that out of 51 beneficiaries of amnesty that graduated, seven came out with second class upper.
Speaking while receiving report on the graduation, Boroh also said two of the seven had graduated in Intelligence and Security Studies, two in Political Science, and one each in Energy and Petroleum Studies, Accounting and Computer Science.
According to him, thirty-one graduated in Second Class Lower Division, 10 had Third Class, one had a Pass, while two could not satisfy the college requirements.
The courses they graduated, according to a statement by the Media and communication consultant of the Amnesty Office, Owei Lakemfa, include Microbiology, Biochemistry, Mass Communication, Business Administration and International Relations.
The statement further said Boroh commended government because the programme was making immense contributions to human capital development in the region.
He also hailed the exemplary conduct of the students while in Novena University, stressing that they were ambassadors of the amnesty programme.
He was also full of praise for the federal government, which he said, funded the entire programme, adding that this was one more proof of the commitment of the President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration to the full re-integration of amnesty beneficiaries into the society.
Boroh added that with the timely graduation of the 51 beneficiaries, the programme would be saving for the government, a total of N76,500,000 annually, which was being paid annually for tuition and training allowances.
He said the graduation also fitted perfectly into the Amnesty Exit Strategic Plan (AESP) of the programme.
