3,057 Niger workers forged certificates – Committee

Chairman Niger state Salary Management Committee, Ibrahim Muhammad Panti, Tuesday said the clearance of 3,057 workers has been put on hold due to forged and questionable certificates at the point of entry the service.

Panti stated this during the a post council briefing in Government House, Minna.

He said: “3,057 are put on hold due to questionable certificates at the point of entry and while in service.  The committee also uncovered 773 civil servants who are yet to avail themselves for the screening, while 340 people were either dead or retired from the service.

He added that the committee was set up by the state government to screen the state workforce with the view to ascertain the staff strength of the state

He said as at September 23, 2020, only 20, 675 staff members were successfully screened out of the total of 26,387 names submitted to the committee by the office of the Head of Service.

The chairman said from the total of 26,387 names given to the committee, only 25, 861 staff registered with the committee on its portal.

Panti stated further that the portal is still open for those who are yet to register, urging those who have registered but are yet to be screened to come forward for the screening.

He warned  that time for such opportunity will soon elapse and those that fail to appear before the committee would  be considered as ghost workers while those who have questionable issues will face disciplinary actions.
