3 Yoruba Nation agitators attack OYSIEC officials, arrested in Ayete 

 

Security operatives Saturday arrested 3 suspected Yoruba Nation agitators in Ayete North local government area of Oyo state during the local government elections. 

Chairman of Ibarapa North local government, Hon Lateef Akorede, said the suspected Yoruba agitators attacked officials of the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC) conveying voting materials to various polling units in Ayete and its environs.

The Yoruba Nation agitators were said to have allegedly ambushed the OYSIEC officials and hijacked election materials from them and was about escaping with the materials when men of the Nigeria Police Force arrived the scene and arrested them.

“On Thursday, we received an intelligent report that some strange faces have been parading Ayete community. We alerted security operatives about the report we got. 

“Today (Saturday), when local government elections were about to commence, the suspected Yoruba Nation agitators ambushed OYSIEC officials and hijacked election materials from them,” he said.
