Every year, the world comes together to honor the vibrant energy, creativity, and potential of its youth on International Youth Day.
This year, the commemoration takes on a special significance as FAME Foundation organises a remarkable Para Soccer Inclusion Tournament in Kano.
Speaking to journalists, Executive Director, FAME Foundation, Ms. Aderonke Ogunleye-Bello, shed more light on the event,
“This event not only celebrates the spirit of young individuals but also serves as a powerful testament to our commitment to creating opportunities and breaking down barriers. Play it Dream it Para Soccer Inclusion Tournament sponsored by French Embassy is a celebration of diversity in every sense. It showcases the diversity of talents, abilities, and backgrounds,” she said.
She emphasised the significance of sports, especially Para Soccer, stating, “Sport is a unifying tool. Para soccer, a sport for athletes living with disabilities, is a shining example of how sports can empower individuals and redefine perceptions. The Para soccer inclusion tournament is undoubtedly a thrilling display of athleticism, it goes beyond the game itself. It serves as a powerful tool for youth living with a disability. As an organisation, our decision to center the Youth Day celebration on a Para Soccer Inclusion Tournament speaks volumes about our dedication to empowering all youth, regardless of their abilities”.
She further stated that, “this is a call to action and that everyone should recognise and celebrate the abilities of all individuals. By breaking down barriers and creating an inclusive environment, we will all live in a more compassionate society.
