A coalition of civil society organisations led by Murtada Ogu-ejiofo Siddiq has endorsed former governor of Kano state, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau, to run for president in 2023.
Siddiq said the group made the decision Thursday at a conference in Abuja.
He said they chose Shekarau following his vast experience in the areas of economy, security and social wellbeing of the people.
The coalition which comprises South-east political youth solidarity, Nigerian Youths Democratic Vanguard, North-east Democratic Alliance, the Combined Bishops and Ministers Council of Nigeria, Kano Rahama Youth Organisation.
Plateau state Hausa Film Makers and Tukur Ibrahim Intini, called on the Shekarau to consider their request and contest the election given his wealth of experiences in leadership.
“What we need mostly now in this great nation Nigeria is a good leader and not where the leader comes from. Nigeria being the strength of African nations and pride of all black races needs an experienced leader like Shekarau,” he said.
