2023 Budget: Yobe holds bilateral budget discussion


Yobe state governor Mai Mala Buni has charged all revenue generating Ministries, Department and Agencies in the state to double their efforts to enable government to achieve it desired objectives of providing the basic infrastructure in the state.

The governor made this known monday while declaring 2023 bilateral budget discussion opened.

Represented by the secretary to the Yobe state government,Alhaji Baba Mallam Wali, Buni said the 2023 budget discussion is paramount toward the state budgetary preparation saying the inputs from Ministries, Departments and Agencies, civil society would be reflected in the 2023 budget.

“MDAs should adhere strictly to the budgetary process and must produce work plan for implementation to the ministry of budget after the passage into law,” he said.

He also directed all Ministries Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in the state to conclude all 2022 ongoing projects before embarking on new ones.

Earlier on his remarks, the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning Muhammad Garba Gagiyo, reminded the MDAs in the state to focus on prioritising the projects and activities taking into cognisance the needs generated from the 3 senatorial zones, eliminate wastages and ensure prudent and efficient use of scarce resources.

He stated that over the years, the state is noted for producing a realistic and credible annual budget which has attracted a lot of commendation and financial rewards from numerous national and international organisations

“All revenue generating agencies are hereby advised to overstretch their tentacles to capture as much as possible all relevant taxes into their net, using the correct economic code provided in the domesticated National Chart of accounts,as the Yobe Internal Revenue Service is doing all it can managerial to support this process by using the electronic medium in tax collection and remittances,” he said.
