2022 Beach Volleyball Nations Cup: Team Nigeria depart for Morocco

The Nigeria Beach Volleyball Federation (NVBF) male and female teams to the 2022 Beach Volleyball Nations Cup has departed Abuja for the 2022 Beach Volleyball Nations Cup in Morocco.

President of Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF), Engr Musa Nimrod, had on Saturday held a closed door meeting with the contingent at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna as they put finishing touches to the team’s participation at the competition billed to hold between July 25 and August 2, 2022.

Nimrod told sports writers in Kaduna, ahead of the teams’ departure, that they are expected to put up a good outing at the Senior Beach Volleyball Nations Cup in Morocco.

“National Beach Volleyball Teams male and female have been preparing to make Nigeria proud in Morocco here at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna.”

“They are departing NIgeria on Sunday and arrive Morocco. The competition starts July 25 and ends on August 2. We are going with both male and female teams A and B, with one coach and referee.

“The federation raised funds for the tickets and other logistics. We all know how dollar rate is now at about N650 to the Naira, which makes it very fund sapping. Besides the tickets, we are giving them some little stipends. We will also provide accommodation and feeding,” he said.

Nimrod said they have prepared well and look forward to a positive outing.

“We pray for success and victory, but we will not say we will win. The most important thing is to prepare the prayers. The success is that we are building a new team. Even FIVB recognizes NIgeria that we are very strong in under age teams,” he said.

Head Coach of the team, Kayode Ajilore, said the players have been in camp for two weeks and have been prepared physically and mentally.

He expressed hope that with their level of training, they will go into the competition and do their best.
