11, 000 students benefit from NNPC E&P scholarships

The Management of Nigerian National Petroleum Company, Exploration & Production (NNPC E&P) Ltd., has disclosed that 11, 000 students from its host communities had so far benefitted from the company’s scholarship scheme.

The Managing Director of the company, Ali Zarah, made the disclosure during the 2023 scholarship screening examination held in Warri Centre, Delta state.

329 students from the company’s host communities in Delta, Edo, Rivers and Imo states participated in this year’s exercise.

Zarah, who was represented by Mr. Chinedu Emelife, the team leader of the Warri examination centre, said the scholarship screening was conducted simultaneously in Warri, Egbema and Port Harcourt.

He said a total of 232 students took the examination at the

Warri centre, while 28 participated in Egbema, and 69 in Port Harcourt, Rivers state.

“To ensure transparency, the Federal University of Petroleum Resources (FUPRE) was engaged to conduct the examination.

“NNPC E&P Ltd. advertised through the media and the communities came forward to pick forms; did nominations and we processed the nominations and forwarded the nominations to FUPRE to conduct the examination.

“The best would be selected in each community for the scholarship award. As a responsible company NNPC E&P takes its CSR seriously by building the capacity of our host communities, state and Nigeria at large.”

Miss Promise Etikpan, a medical laboratory science student, Elizade University, Ondo state, speaking on behalf of others, thanked NNPC E&P and her community for the opportunity.
