Kano assembly receives request for creation of new ministries

The Kano State House of Assembly Speaker, Rt Hon Jibrin Ismail Falgore, has confirmed request from the Kano state governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, for the creation of new ministries in the state.

The Speaker said he was notified through a letter sent to the State House of Assembly by Governor Yusuf, intimating the House of his administration’s intention to establish new ministries in the state.

A statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker Kano State House of Assembly, Kamalludeen Sani Shawai, said Rt Honourable Falgore read the letter before the members of the House, quoting the governor to have said that the establishment of the proposed ministries was part of his administration’s plans to improve efficiency and performance in the state.

The proposed ministries are Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Eradication; Solid Minerals Resources, Power and Renewable energy, Internal Security and Special Service.

According to the governor, the new ministries would go a long way in improving socio-economic activities and delivery of good governance as well as putting the state at a vintage position for sustainable development.

Meanwhile, in a separate letter to the State House of Assembly Speaker, Rt Hon Falgore, Yusuf also requested the screening and appointment of four commissioners and members of the State Executive Council. 

The nominees are Alhaji Adamu Aliyu Kibiya, Alhaji Abdul-Jabbar Umar Garko, Hon. Shehu Usman Aliyu Karaye and Alhaji Mustapha Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso.

The screening of the nominees is scheduled for 2/4/2024.
