Yobe: SARC goes digital, to generate data

In its effort to get authentic records of all cases of Sexual Gender Base Violence (SGBV), the Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) steering
committee in Yobe state has developed template to generate all data in respect of survivors.

This was the outcome of its meeting on Tuesday in Damaturu, the state capital where stakeholders including lawyers, doctors, security agents, media, among others met to brainstorm on the issue.

The meeting reviewed its performance within the last three months and also discussed how to mitigate its challenges.

The SARC also resolved to strengthen referral pathway and establish Sexual Assault Rapid Response team in each of the seventeen local government councils of the state.

Others were the need to restore live radio programme on GBV and SARC in the state radio; to create more awareness and sensitization to the public.

SARC, is steering committee established by Managing Conflicts in Northeast Nigeria (MCN), an European Union funded programme being implemented by the British Council with support from Pathfinder International, United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the Presidential Committee on North East Initiatives (PCNI) to specially handle SGBV cases.
