Yari, Marafa camps unveil different lists of Zamfara excos

The local government congress carried out by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC ) across the federation on Saturday, produced two different results in Zamfara state . This is as the faction led by the governor of the state, Alhaji Abdulaziz Yari, has a different result and the one led by Senator Kabiru Marafa ( APC Zamfara Central) has a different one. In a statement by the spokesperson of Marafa led camp, Bello Soja Bakyasuwa Maradun yesterday, the faction had successful congresses across the 14 local government councils in the state where elected executives emerged.
The statement reads: “After the successful ward congresses where our candidates emerged as the only candidates that fulfilled the conditions set out by the APC NWC, we are pleased to announce that our group held its local government congresses across the 14 local governments of Zamfara state . “The full list has already been sent to APC National Headquarters and copies sent to relevant government agencies for noting. “We hereby announce the emergence of the following names as the the chairmen and secretaries of each of the 14 local government areas of Zamfara state.”
“We will make available the comprehensive list of the new executives of state, local government and wards after the completion of the exercise on the 19th May 2018.” Nurudeen Olanose was allegedly shot at Central School, Dopemu, during a fracas that ensued after voting had ended on Saturday. Deaths and violence were also recorded in some states during the APC ward congress held penultimate Saturday. The APC, Nigeria’s ruling party, held its local government congress nationwide on Saturday.
This followed the ward congress held nationwide a week before. The congresses are to be followed by state congress and lastly the national convention to pick new national leaders of the party. The tenure of the current national leadership of the party, led by John Odigie-Oyegun, expires in June. Odigie-Oyegun is believed to be lobbying to retain his position but faces a major challenger in exEdo governor, Adams Oshiomhole believed to enjoy the support of President Muhammadu Buhari and a national leader of the APC, Bola Tinubu.
