Yahaya Bello will leave lasting legacies – Kogi First Lady

Wife of Kogi state governor, Hajia Rashidat Bello, has assured that her husband will leave legacies that will have long term impact on the lives of the people of the state especially women and people living with disabilities.

The Kogi First Lady stated this in Government House Lokoja on Saturday during a women empowerment programme as part of activities slated for the celebration of 31 years of creation of the state.

According to her, the current administration led by His Excellency Governor Yahaya Bello, has done a lot to uplift women and people living with disabilities from poverty, saying the empowerment is a cash token given to women to boost their businesses.

She charged the beneficiaries drawn from the 21 local government areas of the state to utilise the money judiciously in order to better their lives and that of the family members.

In her goodwill message, the State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development Fatima Buba stated that the state governor has contributed immensely to the development of the state through provision of projects that have direct impact on the lives of the citizens.

She said through various agricultural programmes in the state many women were  being empowered and encouraged to invest in food production, noting that the governor’s efforts in placing women in their right places had given them a sense of belonging.
