The Women of Organisation of African Instituted Churches, Nigeria region yesterday converged on Kaduna to pray for the peaceful coexistence of the country ahead of the 2019 elections.
The women and children department of the organisation, at its 11th annual national convention, urged the Nigerian politicians to put national interest before any other consideration.
“Before Nigeria can get it right, there is need to embrace one and other irrespective of religious affiliation and ethnic differences, and to put behind the syndrome of discrimination,” the organisation advised.
Speaking to journalists at the event, the National Director, OAIC, Rev Julia Akerele said “the convention is an annual event that creates avenue for members to brainstorm on the societal problems such as restiveness amongst the youth.
“Building a mother is like building a society, and that is one of the focuses of this organisation; to build mother for better society.
“The convention is also a celebration of womanhood; bringing them together from different states of the federation, with the aim to promote unity among women of diverse backgrounds,” she said.
