Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu state has reiterated his administration’s commitment to embark on programmes that would develop and empower youths with entrepreneurial skills for wealth creation and self-sufficiency.
The Governor, who spoke weekend at the flag-off of the YUBOSS Entrepreneurship Summit organised by the Enugu State Ministry of Culture and Tourism and sponsored by Yudala in collaboration with the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT), said conscious and continuous empowerment of youths is essential to any society’s development.
“With the number of unemployed youths in Nigeria, it is obvious that urgent, concerted and sustainable measures must have to be taken in order to prevent the situation from spinning out of control,” he said.
He also stressed that the acquisition and deployment of requisite entrepreneurial skills by the youth to manage their own businesses would put them in a prime position to drive economic development in the country, urging them to take advantage of the summit to enhance their capacity and explore business opportunities.
While thanking Yudala for bringing the summit to Enugu, Ugwuanyi promised to always identify with any initiative that would enable youths in the state to actualise their potentials.
Earlier, in his remarks, the Vice Chancellor of ESUT, Prof. Luke Anike, disclosed that the institution’s decision to partner Yudala in sponsoring the programme was borne out of the vision to create an enabling environment that would “grow new sets of entrepreneurs, catalyse private sector investment, contribute to economic growth, make revenue available to the entrepreneurs and government and help to create hundreds of thousands of jobs and prosperity.”
