We’ll soon wipe out ghost workers from Taraba civil service – Official

The Taraba state Head of Service (HoS),  Mr. Paul Maigida Tino,  has said  the state government would soon wipe out civil servants with fake appointment letters.

Tino, who stated this in Jalingo during an exclusive interview with Blueprint lamented that during last year’s recruitment, so many newly recruited civil servants were given fake appointment letters.

“They were massive recruitment into the state civil service last year and good number of civil servants who got employed into the state civil service were given fake employment letters.

Governor Agbu has since directed the office of the Accountant General of the state and that of the Head of Service to carry out verification exercise to fish out ghost workers. Those with fake appointment letters may be affected because government has asked us to do cleansing to be able to know the genuine civil servants in the state,” he said.

He added that the era of extending the tenure of civil servants after retiring from civil service is gone, saying what the previous government was doing was a violation of civil service rules.

“That was a bad precedent that would have affected the civil service in the near future,” he lamented.
