We need more training horses for our cadets – NDA Commandant

The Commandant Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Major General Adeniyi Oyebade, has called for more horses to enable the academy train its officer cadets effectively.

Speaking while receiving donation of a white horse from members of Short Service Combatant Course 25 of the academy on Monday, the Commandant, who was represented by the Deputy Commandant, Air Vice Marshal Ismaila Sadiq Kaita, said the academy was finding it difficult to train its large number of cadets in equitation due to limited number of horses at its disposal.

According to the Commandant, “right now, we are expecting about 500 cadets for Short Service Course 46 by January. With such a number of cadets, we are finding it difficult to ensure that, the cadets are given the right training in equitation because of the number of horses that we have.
“So, we encourage donation of horses from individuals and group like your own, so that we can strengthen the number. This is because equitation is one of the most important military courses that the academy offers and we want to ensure that we continue to give training well,” he said
Presenting the horse, Chairman of the SSC 25 also known as Friends Club, Major General Charles Okorocha said the donation was in appreciation of training given to them by the academy.

“We are privileged to have this opportunity to say thank you to this academy that made us who we are today. We are giving this token donation as part of activities marking our 35th anniversary celebration, due to the importance of equitation course to the training of cadets.”
