A renowned Islamic cleric in Oyo, Sheikh Taofeek Akeugbagold, Sunday, raised the alarm over the kidnap of his twins by gunmen on Saturday night, saying his wife had twins after waiting for twelve years.
Sheikh Akewugbagold, who raised the alarm in a message he posted on his Facebook stated that his twins were kidnapped at gunpoint at his residence in Ojoo area of Ibadan.
According to the cleric, the twins were kidnapped on Saturday, April 25, 2020 around 8pm, after he had left the house for a recording studio, intending to educate his followers in radio and television lectures during the ongoing Ramadan.
The facebook message reads: “What a country! My twin children were kidnapped at gun point at my Ojoo residence, Ibadan, around 8pm Saturday, 10 minutes after I left my home for recording lecture in a studio.”
“Everybody should please, for Allah’s sake assist me in prayer and begging the abductors to please be merciful with me, especially their mother who was barren for 12 years before (giving birth to the twins),” he cried.
When contacted, the Public Relations Officer, Oyo state police command, SP Lawrence Fadeyi, confirmed the incidence, saying, “Yes, there was an abduction of Akewugbagold’s twins yesterday night. Efforts intensified, arrests were made and suspects currently assisting the police in investigations.”
