Water supply: FCT minister calls for better service

The FCT minister, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello, has assured that the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) would work assiduously to improve the supply of potable water to the entire residents of the Federal Capital City in line with the change mantra of the Federal Government.

The minister gave this assurance at the weekend when inspecting some strategic water infrastructure at the Lower Usuma Dam, in Abuja.
He charged staff of the FCT Water Board to do everything possible toward improving on services to the residents of the territory.

Bello insisted that his Administration wouldn’t tolerate excuses but expect them to diligently work to provide adequate water supply to all the nooks and crannies of the FCT.
He added that the administration will support the Board in improving water supply in Abuja. He urged the Board to also think of ways of providing safe and clean water to the rural areas.
He said: “Your responsibility in terms of providing water to our beautiful city is very important. And I have seen that most of you have been here for a very long time so you have the requisite experience to deliver on your mandate.”

The minister inspected the Lower Usuma Dam reservoir, raw water pipeline conveying system from Lower Usuma Dam to the water treatment plants I & II as well as III & IV, the laboratory serving the dam, Tank 2 serving some districts in Phases II & III of the Federal Capital City as well as the erosion control site in the Katampe District (Extension) and the Kubwa Area Office including the Tank serving the Kubwa Satellite Town.
The minister was accompanied by the FCT Permanent Secretary, Dr. Babatope Ajakaiye
and was conducted round the sites by the management team of the board led by its director, Mr. Hudu Bello.
