US to train Nigerians on cybercrime

Government of United States has disclosed that its officials will train Nigerians on cybercrime starting from next week.
Those to be trained, US Embassy in Abuja disclosed yesterday, are law enforcement officers, prosecutors, judges, legislators and policy makers.
According to the Embassy, the training is aimed at building the capacity of the trainees in terms of implementing Nigeria’s cybercrime law.

The training, which is dubbed West African Cyber Initiative Bilateral Workshop, is billed to last for two weeks.
In the first week, over 50 investigators and prosecutors will be trained to strengthen cybercrime first responder and digital evidence skills, while also reviewing international cooperation, cyber-security strategies, and civil liberty issues.
However, in the second week, 40 judges and 10 legislators/policy makers will be trained  on legal proceedings and digital evidence, while addressing cyber-security campaigns, Internet governance, and countering violent extremism.
