A popular lawyer based in Owerri, N. H.Nwankwo Esq, was on Sunday found dead in his office along school Road in Owerri.
Blueprint gathered that the lawyer went to work in his office Saturday morning but could not return to his house that day which made his family members and colleagues to wonder what must have happened.
On getting to his office on Sunday, it was discovered that it was locked while blood littered at the entrance suggesting foul play.
Later, some lawyers from the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) in Owerri, the state capital and men of the homicide section of the state CID took along with them some foresic experts to his office, and opened the door. At that point, they saw the man lying prostrate in his pool of congealed blood..
An investigation carried out showed that the man was matchetted to death as there were deep cuts on his body, especially around his neck area.
Further investigation revealed that two foot prints were discovered through forensic evidence.
There was also a bucket of water found in his office which his assailants may have used to wash their hands after they succeeded in killing him, while an abandoned machette was found in his office toilet.
Meanwhile, his driver who was said to be with him before he was found dead is still at large.
The corpse has since been deposited at the morgue while investigations were still on.
As at the time of filling this report, Police were yet to make any official statement.
