Umahi, PDP, others hail Elechi @ 80

Governor David Umahi, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and other stakeholders of the state, Sunday, celebrated Chief Martin Elechi on his 80th birthday.

Chief Elechi was the second civilian governor of the state and predecessor to Governor Umahi. The former governor’s regime lasted from 2007 to 2015. He turned 80 on Sunday, February 7, 2021.

Celebrating him, Umahi in a statement described Elechi as sage and pathfinder of heartwarming legacies.

The statement reads in part: “It is with a deep sense of love that I felicitate with our father and former Governor of Ebonyi State, His Excellency Chief Martin Nwanchor Elechi, CON on his 80th birthday this 7th February, 2021.

“Your Excellency, my family and I celebrate you as a sage and pathfinder of heartwarming legacies and we hold in a high esteem the fond memories of our shared vision in the development of Ebonyi state. You remain a precious jewel in the political history of our dear state.

“Once again, I congratulate you our dear Ochoudo.”

On its part, the state PDP family led by Elder Fred Udeogu, in another statement prayed for God to sustain his health, saying: “Ebonyi PDP celebrates with the second democratically elected Governor of Ebonyi State, His Excellency Chief Martin Elechi, MFR, CON on the occasion of his 80th birthday.

“May God continue to sustain your health as you live to accomplish more feats for the benefit of Ebonyi, Nigeria and the entire human race.”
