‘Tiv, great beneficiaries of Al-Makura’s rural projects’

President, Tiv Youth Organisation in Nasarawa state, Comrade Peter Ahemba, has revealed that the Tiv people in the state were great beneficiaries of the massive road construction initiated by the Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura-led administration.

He stated this in a congratulatory message to the governor on the just concluded Eid el-Kabir celebration which was also signed by the President, Tiv Development Association (TIDA), in the state, Mr. Bernard Kyeghna, yesterday in Lafia.

Ahemba also observed that the rural development programmes of Governor Al-Makura had greatly benefitted the Tiv people who live mostly in the rural areas.

It said the Tiv community was happy that the Al-Makura’s administration had given them a sense of involvement and belonging by the appointment of its sons and daughters into various government positions, pointing out that “by so doing, the governor has endeared himself to the Tiv people.”

The letter read in part: “As a community we are particularly grateful that your administration has created a sense of involvement and belonging among our people by appointment of Tiv sons and daughters not only in your cabinet but other key positions in your government. No doubt your abundant sense of justice, equity and fairness will continue to endear you to the Tiv people.

“Your Excellency Sir, you have become the hope of the hopeless and that is why the Tiv people like Oliver Twist, are making a passionate appeal for more appointments, building of schools in our villages and creation of Chiefdom for the Tiv people of the state.”
