It was a momentous occasion when the true son of the soil and All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship candidate for the 2023 general elections, Air Marshall Sadiq Baba Abubakar (rtd) touched down in Katagum, Bauchi state.
Sadiq Abubakar had come for a wedding ceremony, but, unexpectedly, it turned out to be a political gathering. Full with excitement, different strata of the society, including women, youths, politicians, on their own volition, came out en masse to show solidarity in welcoming their son and, hopefully, the next governor of Bauchi state.
The great people of Azare, the headquarters of Katagum local government area, gathered in solidarity, with the hope of a joint vision for the emancipation of Bauchi state, trust in their illustrious son, and pure love for the pearl of tourism. Despite the turbulence of the weather due to intense rain, they answered the clarion call to converge for a brighter future of the unborn generation. Not only Sadiq and his entourage were amazed at how they were received, the whole Bauchi North people were also astonished at how their son came in a grand style. Indeed, everything “fell into place,” as his candidacy will augur well for the state.
Even though the campaign has not yet started, yes, we have a lot to do ahead of 2023, but providence has given us an edge, by the quality of our candidate. His dedication, courage and zeal, which are attested to by all and sundry including the opposition. The good people of Bauchi state believe he can right the many wrongs and lay a solid foundation for economic development, state cohesion, security, and that he can engender true patriotism.
The people of Katagum are proud that their down-to-earth son is ready to salvage the state from the misrule of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, administration. He demonstrated his readiness in town hall meetings. Hence, they demonstrated it’s never-before-seen solidarity. Perhaps, they feel this is the best time for their son to take the mantle of leadership. Not only because of the ineptitude of the PDP government, but for the simple fact that the candidate is the most competent, capable, and experienced.
Besides, he extends condolences and pays medical bills for the less privileged patients at the Federal Medical Centre, FMC, Azare, even though these are things he’s fond of, even before thinking of joining politics. He went round to pay homage to the elders. What an admirable moment that shook the entire Bauchi state. The momentum is beyond Katagum though, the entire 20 local government areas of Bauchi state are keenly waiting for February 2023 to elect Sadiq as the next governor of Bauchi state. In sha Allah.
