Stock market closes higher, gains N199bn

Trading activities on the floor of Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) yesterday closed northward, appreciating by N199 billion.


Specifically, Market Capitalisation of listed equities increased by 0.98 per cent to N20.449 trillion from N20.250 trillion reported the previous day.
The NSE All Share Index also appreciated by 380.81 basis points to 39085.78 points from 38704.97 points traded on Tuesday.
Investors traded 361.903 million shares valued at N5.701 billion in 4018 deals.


Stanbic IBTC led gainers table, growing by 9.99 per cent or N4.40 kobo to close at N48.45 kobo, NPF Micro Finance Bank followed with a gain of 9.60 per cent or N0.17 kobo to close at N1.94 kobo, Cornerstone Insurance gained 8.93 per cent or N0.05 kobo to close at N0.61 kobo, Guinness Nigeria PLC added 8.76 per cent or N2.20 kobo to close at N27.30 kobo, Oando PLC increased by 8.68 per cent or N0.27 kobo to close at N3.38 kobo.


MRS Plc on the contrary, recorded the highest loss during the day, shedding 9.70 per cent or N1.30 kobo to close at N12.10 kobo. Wapic Insurance trailed with a loss of 9.09 per cent or N0.05 kobo to close at N0.50 kobo. Wapco fell by 7.11 per cent or N1.60 kobo to close at N20.90 kobo.


Africa Prudential declined by 5.45 per cent or N0.30 kobo to close at N5.20 kobo, Livestock Feeds depreciated by 4.74 per cent or N0.09 kobo to close at N1.81 kobo.
