Stock market appreciates by N43bn

Trading activities on the floor of Nigeria Stock Exchange (NSE), yesterday closed higher, gaining N43 billion. Specifically, market capitalisation of listed equities appreciated by 0.50 per cent to N8.525 trillion from N8.482 trillion recorded the previous day. Also the NSE All Share Index (ASI) increased by 125.78 basis points to 24784.95 points from 24659.17 point traded the previous day.

Investors for the day traded 159.262 million shares worth N1.112 billion in 2698 deals against 228.904 million shares valued at N1.440 billion in 3239 deals. An analysis of the transactions showed that Seplat Petroleum Development Company led gainers table growing by N2.85 kobo to close at N335.00, Nigerian Breweries forllowed with a gain of N0.64 kobo to close at N103.14 kobo, Flour Mill Nigeria Plc appreciated by N0.64 kobo to close at N20.00, Guaranty Trust Bank gained N0.46 kobo to close at N16.16 while  NAscon increased by N0.34 kobo to close at N7.74 kobo. Mobil Oil recorded the highest lose, shedding N2.25 kobo to close at N149.00, Okomu Oil Palm trailed with a drop of N0.48 kobo to close at N30.00, Custodian and Allied Insurance fell by N0.19 kobo to close at N3.71 kobo, Port Land Paint and Product depreciated by N0.13 kobo to close at N2.75 kobo Air Service shed N0.10 kobo to close at N1.90 kobo.

Further analysis showed that FBNHoldings was most active for the day, trading 19.177 million shares worth N64.226 million, GTBank followed with account of 19.125 million shares cost N305.399 million, Zenith Bank traded 15.979 million shares valued at N187.242 million Access Bank 12.355 million shares worth N45.869 million and United Capital sold 10.098 million shares cost N14.844 million.
