Show statesmanship, fatherly disposition, release Kanu, Ugochinyere urges Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has been asked to show statesmanship and fatherly disposition and release Nnamdi Kanu.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) House of Representatives Candidate for Ideato federal constituency and the spokesman for Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP), Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, made this call on Saturday in Abuja.

Ugochinyere also called on President Muhammadu Buhari to withdraw his decision to appeal the Court ruling, which ordered the immediate release of the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.

Ugochinyere pointed out that Buhari has a deep rooted hatred for the Igbos, adding that the way his administration handled Kanu issue from onset demostrated this hatred.

“I urge him to show statesmanship and fatherly introspection and release Kanu now.

“The President has personal hatred for Igbos. That was why he took over the government in 1983. That hatred for Ndigbo has not been aborted.

“Nnamdi Kanu was only making demands for betterment of the marginalized tribe. Why deny him his fundamental human right? Why not listen to him and enter into a dialogue with him?

“What crime has Nnamdi Kanu committed to be compared with the crimes of Fulanis herdsmen in Nigeria today? We are calling on President Buhari to show to the world that he is a father of all irrespective of ethnic affiliation and release Kanu now,” he said.
