RTEAN launches ‘KarryGo’ cashless programme for hitch-free transportation

The Executive National President of Road Transport Employers’ Association Of Nigeria (RTEAN), Alhaji Musa Mohammed Maitakobi, has launched a cashless programme tagged ‘RTEAN KARRYGO’ to ensure hitch-free transportation system in Nigeria.

Presenting the programme in Abuja, Maitakobi said: “RTEAN is known for introducing programmes and policies that impact positively on the lives of its members and the general public. For instance, Travelers Accident Insurance Scheme (TAIS), where any RTEAN vehicle is involved in an accident will be given an emergency first Aid care.

“This time around, we are partnering with WEMA and Digix Technologies, a technology partner to provide a seamless financial transaction process for transiting Nigerians, in line with the present cashless policy of the Central Bank of Nigeria that will ensure hitch – free transportation system, known as ‘’ KARRYGO’’ cashless programme.

“This programme during implementation will put in check issues of insecurity, as all information about the travelers final destinations would have been collated from the electronic or digital manifest generated in the cause of processing their payment for the journey.

“ It will Fast ticket purchasing and boarding, improved passengers experience that are likely to encourage, spontaneous travel and motivate the use of public transport, eliminate fraud and improve accountability will automatically issue e-receipt via SMS to eliminate paper ticket sales, public transport Data to improve transportation, QR code can also assist with vehicle tracking to prevent theft and car snatching, security cashless system reduce the need for cash transaction and cash handling.

“It is our hope that when this programme come into full implementation, a lot more sanity would have been enthroned in the road transport sector in Nigeria. And after this official launching, all our members across the country will be properly trained on what should be done to achieve greater results. This is because we need personnel and men to handle the equipment to be used.”
