Reps probe N96bn intervention funds

The House of Representatives Tuesday resolved to raise an ad hoc committee, with a view to investigating the over N96 billion reportedly received as public intervention funds by agencies of the federal government between 2015 and 2020.
The investigation was intended to determine whether such funds were properly applied for the desired purposes.


A member of the House, Henry Nwauba, who brought a motion on the matter Tuesday gave insight to the said funds in question to include; N7.69 billion as 2015 special MDGs intervention, N22.47 received as contingency fund, N7.23 billion as special MDGs projects, N39.93 billion for 2020 special intervention, N3 billion special intervention/constituency projects, and N15.87 billion as capital contingency fund.

He named other programmes for which no specific amounts were stated to include National Water Rehabilitation Project, National Agricultural Technology Programme and the Salary Bailout to states, as well as payment for fertilizers, states Water Supply Projects and FADAMA project.
