Rape cases: HILWA wants security agency’s intervention in Zamfara

The High Level Advocates (HILWA) Zamfara state branch has appealed to security agencies in the state to take cases of rape seriously by ensuring that culprits arrested are charged to court.

The call was made Tuesday by the state chairperson of HILWA, Hajiya Maryam Muhammad, in an interview with journalists at the state police command headquarters in Gusau during a peaceful demonstration conducted by joint associations.

She said rape cases in the country is against humanity as it breaches the right of girls to live, hence the need for decisive action against anyone found wanting, irrespective of his status.

“Security agencies have vital role to play in their quest to mitigate the menace of rampant raping cases that are happening in this country as it is affecting the nobility of underage girls everywhere. So, we want the security agencies, particularly police and NSCDC to make sure whoever is caught defiling girls are prosecuted according to the law,” she said.
