In a bid to mitigate the spread of the coronavirus otherwise known as (COVID-19) the federal government has been tasked to publish the names of all who arrived Nigeria through our International Airports from countries with established high cases of COVID-19.

Nigeria, Monday, recorded first COVID-19 related death, even as 30 people had been confirmed to be infected with the virus.

The Chairman of Governors Mandate Network, Earl Osaro Onaiwu, who made the call, Monday in Abuja, urged the federal government to compel all international airlines to publish the manifest of all their inbound flights in the last one week no matter the calibre of people involved.

Onaiwu stated that there was growing concerns that there were many more infected people than have being detected in Nigeria.

He said there was high suspicion of spread via person-to-person contact from people who have been exposed to the virus abroad.

The former director of governors’ forum regretted the situation where majority of returnees are not adhering strictly to self-isolation protocol thereby resulting in the geometric increase of confirmed cases of COVID-19.
