Police arrests man for allege culpable homicide, robbery in Zamfara

The Zamfara State Police Command arrested one Suleiman Baba Maiyaki in for criminal conspiracy, attempted culpable homicide and armed robbery.

The state command public relations officer SP Muhammad Shehu said in a statement issued to journalists in Gusau Thursday.

He explained that the arrest was sequel to a report received from a complainant by one Zaharaddeen Bashir from Kwotorkoshi emirate in Bungudu LGA.

“On 26th June, 2021, the Complainant who happened to be an Okada rider was riding his Motorcycle along new Motor Park area Gusau, when he was stopped by the suspect and asked him to convey him to Barakallahu area, Gusau”. He stated.

According to him, on getting to the destination, the suspect told the complainant to stop and wait by one uncompleted building that he claimed belong to him while the complainant was waiting with his motorcycle.

He said the suspect armed with stick suddenly appeared and hit the victim to a point of coma and as a result, he fell down uncurious, until few minutes before he regained himself inside a drainage.

“Our police operatives rushed to the scene and rescued the victim to the hospital where he was treated by medical personnel”. He stated

Shehu said, the police in collaboration with the relatives of the victim arrested the suspect along bye pass road, Gusau, adding that in the course of interrogation, the suspect confessed to the allegations against him and will be charged to court for prosecution.

He said exhibits recovered from the suspect was the snatched motorcycle, saying the the Command will sustain the tempo in order to stem the tide of criminal activities in the state.
