Police arrest 4 over attack on Adamawa commissioner

The Adamawa State Police Command has apprehended four people for allegedly attacking the state Commissioner of Environment, Muhammed Sadiq, and robbing him of his official vehicle and other valuables.

It also recovered the stolen Toyota Hilux including a barreta pistol, three live ammunition, two anti-trackers, phones, and cash in foreign currency.

A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, gave the names of the arrested suspects as Salihu Buhari, 38 years old, and Abdullahi Abubakar, 35, both from Garoua in Cameroon Republic; Isa Adamu, 55, from Tudun Wada, Sokoto State; and Mustapha Muhammed, 47, of Lelewalji, Girei Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

According to Nguroje, the suspects were nabbed by a combined team of police operatives attached to Girei Divisional Police Headquarters on Monday after they attacked the Commissioner in the early hours of the day. He was taken to a hospital where he is currently receiving medical attention.

He said the success followed an operational strategy introduced by the police to check criminal activities such as armed robbery, shila gangsterism, kidnapping, among others within and outside the state capital.
