PIB to end agitation in Niger Delta – Boroh

Th e Special Adviser and coordinator of Presidential Amnesty Programme, Brigadier-Gen. Paul Boroh has assured that if pass into law, the proposed Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) would end frequent agitation and hostility in the Niger Delta region. Boroh, who was speaking when three benefi ciaries of the programme who graduated with First Class degrees, from Bellarus, presented their certifi cate to him, said the federal government had so far spent about N48 billion on human capacity of the ex-agitators this year.

Boroh, who also commended the students for making Nigeria proud, said the federal government had done well towards ensuring lasting peace and development in the region. He said this year alone, about 177 and 140 benefi ciaries have graduated from universities across United State of America, and the United Kingdom, respectively.

“Th is year alone, I am proud on behalf of the federal government to say that 177 benefi ciaries graduated from universities across United State of America and in UK and nothing less that 140 have benefi ted from the Amnesty Programme and if you calculated the total sum is nothing less than N48bn for human capacity development. “Th e PIB would streamline federal government initiative towards development of the region, once it is pass and It appropriation, there would be massive developmental impartation in that region”, Boro added. On the recent meeting with the South-South leaders Boroh said all parties were happy, adding that “a win-win situation was established. “Am very happy that the South-South leaders’ meeting with the federal government has been revealing as to what the government is doing towards ensuring stability and development in the region. At the end of the meeting everybody was happy”, he said.
