Peace, dev, our goal at NSUK – Modibbo

The Dean Students’ Affairs of Nasarawa State University, Dr Abdullahi Modibbo has stated that peace, unity of purpose, development, progress, sustainability and politics of inclusiveness are the clear goals, aims and objectives of Nasarawa state University, Keffi under the  leadership of the Vice Chancellor, Professor Bala Suleiman Mohammed.

Speaking during an interactive session with journalists  in his office to usher in the beginning of the new academic session, the  technocrat and the Dean, Students’ Affairs of Nasarawa state University recalled with pleasure some of the achievements recorded by the university during the last academic session.

These include among others, synergy between the Students’ Affairs Division and the Security Outfit of the university; nipping in the bud the activities of cultism, gangsterism, examination misconduct,  bad governance by streamlining the role of student unionism in leadership by educating them through experts and conduct of free, fair elections of SUG; managing the students’ affairs effectively with their influences and challenges while addressing their peculiar problems promptly and accordingly.

In a related development, he described Professor  Mohammed’s policy, put in place at Nasarawa State University as the catalysts to the recent developments witnessed in the university so far. He affirmed that the VC, being a former Dean of Students’ Affairs at University of Abuja is a team player and a team leader who has placed students as his major concern in terms of administration with student friendly policies harmonised.

On staff,  Modibbo described the VC as a person who has devoted and committed powers to his staff through his progressive running of the university.

He said the intention of the university is to cut down cost drastically and raise the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) to a reasonable level by ensuring that direct labour are engaged in execution of projects and award of contracts which are monitored with high quality.

 It is in the light of this that the university is promoting and encouraging the block industry, the printing press, NSUK Consult, water factory, NSUK Hotel, the entrepreneurship and the fertiliser company of the Faculty of Agriculture in form of Public Private Partnership (PPP) so as to increase the (IGR) of the university and at the same time serve as a succour to indigent students who are brilliant but poor.
