OYC berates Miyetti Allah over comments on South-east land

Ohaneze Ndigbo Youths Council (OYC) Worldwide Sunday berated the president of Miyetti Allah Kautel Hore, Abdullahi Bodejo on his claims that Fulani people were the largest ethnic group in Nigeria.

Bodejo was quoted to have said that “every governor in Nigeria, especially South-east should carve out land for the Fulanis to do their cattle business.”

But OYC through their president general, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro in a statement released to journalists in Abakaliki noted that Fulanis remains a very minority group in Nigeria adding that they have no right to any land in the zone.

He said: “Rearing of cattle remains a private business and the Fulanis should adhere to the strict rules of South-east Governors on the ban of pastoralists’ movement of cattle by foot.

“South-east Governors and Ohanaeze will never bring policies that will divide Nigeria. We have finalized arrangements for the five South-east states house of Assemblies to enact laws on ban on open grazing so that full weight of the law will descend on any erring pastoralists caught trespassing from one community to the community.

“Miyetti Allah Kautel Hole leadership should tender unreserved apology to the South-east Governors or should be arrested for hate speech and provocative remarks capable of truncating peaceful environment in the South-east”.
