Olubadan to NIS: Nigerians unhappy with delay in international passports issuance

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba S Lekan Balogun has told the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) that Nigerians are complaining over delay in the issuance of International Passports to deserving citizens.

Oba Lekan Balogun stated this Tuesday while receiving the new Comptroller of the Nigeria Immigration Service in Oyo state, Mohammed Tukur Umar, at his Alarere residence in Ibadan.

He stressed that there is the need for the NIS to speed up actions on the issuance of international passports to deserving Nigerians.

Oba Balogun emphasised that waiting for months to access international passport does not portray the Nigeria Immigration Service in very good light.

“International Passport is a document that all bonafide citizens of a country are entitled to and to access it should not be cumbersome. We have a lot of complaints arising from the delay in obtaining the document.

“I want to appeal to you to use your good offices to ameliorate the sufferings of our people. I must also commend your Service on the efforts at tackling the problems of illegal immigrants and human trafficking,” he said.

Oyo state NIS new comptroller, Mohammed Tukur Umar while speaking, assured Oba Balogun on his observation on the seemingly delay in issuance of International Passport urged for patience on the part of Nigerians seeking to travel abroad to make sure they get the right documents.
