One year anniversary: Group scores Tinubu, military high on security

A civil Society Organisation (CSO) Stayalert Human Right Awareness Initiative, has rated the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s led federal government high on security.

According to the group, the Tinubu/ Shettima presidency has successfully turned the tide of insecurity within one year under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

Speaking at a press conference in Abuja on Thursday, its Director of Publicity Amechi Chuks Oyema, also lauded the Armed Forces of Nigeria under the leadership of General Christopher Musa, for taking the fight to the enemies.

He said the successes recorded in the fight against insecurity by the military was as a result of the CDS emphasis on synergy.

According to him, this has led to the killings of thousands of terrorists including high profile commanders while thousands others have surrendered to troops in different theatres of operations across the country.

“We want to use this opportunity to laud the CDS for the synergy seen in the Armed forces. It is indeed highly commendable. This is why positive results are coming out from the different theatres of operation.

“Over 4,600 hostages have been freed, more than 9,300 hostiles neutralized, and over 7,000 terrorists and bandits arrested.

“We can boldly say that in the past one year, the security situation has improved.

“The stay at home in the South-East has fizzled out. People in that region are now more relaxed, likewise in the North-East and North-West. We can’t but commend the AFN,” he said.

He also lauded the military for being a beacon of democracy under General Musa.

“We can attest that the Armed forces of Nigeria has not just said it is loyal to the constitution of the country, the leadership has continued to stress that democracy is the best. We commend the CDS for using every opportunity to affirm their loyalty to the constitution,” he said.

Speaking further, he commended the Defence and Police Officers Wives Association (DEPOWA) led by the wife of the CDS Mrs. Aghogho Musa for its humanitarian activities and empowerment programmes, saying it would go a long way to boost morale of troops in the frontline.

“StayAlert is using this opportunity to commend the leadership of DEPOWA for what they are doing. Our serving troops, retired and families of fallen heroes have benefited from the different empowerment programmes of this body.
“It is a morale booster to troops engage in military operations that their today and tomorrow is covered.

“Madam DEPOWA, wife of the CDS, we appreciate you. Within a very short time, you have made tremendous difference in the lives of families of serving officers and departed heros,” he said.
