Ogun: Police parade suspected kidnappers, others 

The Ogun state police command on Tuesday paraded suspects who were arrested for various criminal activities in the state.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Abiodun Alamutu, while briefing newsmen at the command headquarters, Eleweran reassured the citizens that the command under his watch will continue to make the state inhabitable for all criminal elements especially cultists and land grabbers.

Amongst those paraded includes one Elijah Peter Iliasu, who was arrested with gunshot injuries.

Iliasu and others at large were part of the foiled armed robbery incident at the Majestic Royal Hotel, Sagamu.

“On the 6th of October 2023, at about 0100hrs, a distress call was received by Area Commander Sagamu from Majestic Royal Hotel that suspected armed robbers invaded and operating in the hotel. 

“Teams of policemen moved to the scene of the robbery and engaged the robbers in a gun duel. Two of the armed robbers were fatally wounded by superior police fire power. One Elijah Peter Iliasu ‘M’, age 27yrs was arrested with gunshot injuries. 

“On interrogation, he confessed to the crime of armed robbery and further stated that all of them that participated in the armed robbery came from Ibadan in Oyo State.

“Effort is on to apprehend other fleeing suspects. One Toyota Venza Car, two locally made double barrel gun, six live cartridges, eighteen expended cartridge shells, one big scissors, seventeen android phones (belongings to the lodgers), one Java phone, ATM cards of different banks and three bags were recovered”, the CP said.

Paraded also was a notorious motorcycle snatcher, cultists, kidnappers, amongst others, just as the the CP reteraited that the public can visit various formation across the state to retrieve any stolen items belonging to them with proof of ownership.

“There is a relative peace in Ogun State under my watch, and I further pledge on my integrity to relentlessly fight criminality to a standstill. 

“However, the window of renunciation is still open to those willing to quit their membership of various cult groups and other acts of criminality. 

“My admonition goes to parents/guardians to sensitize their wards to steer clear of crime and tendencies of criminality. Thank you for listening”, the CP added
