Director-General of the National Youths Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier-General Sule Zakari Kazaure, has appealed to the Niger state government to expedite action on the completion of the NYSC permanent orientation camp which was started five years ago.
The made the appeal at the NYSC orientation camp in Minna yesterday during his nationwide tour of NYSC.

He said the appeal became necessary because Niger state was among the few states in the country that were yet to have permanent orientation camp.
It would be recalled that the immediate past administration in the state awarded N400 million contract for the construction of a permanent orientation camp for NYSC in the state but only 10% of the job was said to have been done.
The DG, who was represented by the Director Community Services and Special Projects at the NYSC headquarters, Mrs. Comfort Makinde, pointed out that completion of the permanent site would go a long way in solving the accommodation problem being faced by corps members in Niger state.

While commending the state government for donating 500 double bunk beds and mattresses to corps members at the orientation camp to ease their accommodation problems, the DG emphasised that having a permanent site would reduce the burden of replacing one facility or the other at the beginning of every orientation exercise.
According to him, most of the facilities at the temporary site were usually broken or stolen making the NYSC to spend more during each orientation exercise.
He said: “That is why we are appealing to the Niger state government help us complete the permanent site; this will help in reducing our burden.
“Each time we come for orientation course, most of our facilities are usually damaged or stolen and we spend more in repairing or getting it back. A lot of money is being spent for this.”
